POLYCITY is a project of the CONCERTO initiative co-funded by the EC within the FP6
The Canadian associated communities and the network are managed by the Canadian École Polytechnique Montréal (EPM). The main interest of the Canadian network is the know-how transfer of polygeneration technologies for industrial applications such as the paper and pulp industry and district heating and cooling systems for towns near major industrial sites. There is a substantial number of organisations interested in the results:
Utilities like B.C. Hydro, Ontario Hydro, Newfoundland Hydro, Gaz Métropolitain, partially owned by Hydro Québec; governmental and granting organisations like Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and its R&D branch Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET), Agence de l’Efficacité Energétique du Québec, Fonds en efficacité énergétique, Association Québécoise pour la Maîtrise de l’Énergie, Community Futures Network, and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities; industrial organisations and partners like the Canadian District Energy Association and Thermofin.
